Dear Xi Epsilon Alumni
My name is VaShawn Head. When I first decided to join a fraternity, I was amazed to the type of welcome I received from Kappa Sigma. I realized the stereotypes of a fraternity, and immediately saw that they were all disclaimed. Our group is a group of diverse cool people. The pledge process, although strenuous, is memorable, as well as worth it. As a promising businessman and computer animator, which are my two majors, I feel my future is clear. As a Kappa Sigma Pledge, I am seeing that my future is clearer than ever. I am 19 and have had a hard way in life. Always making it for myself I see that with this Fraternity I don't have to do it on my own like I always felt I did. I hope to uphold the standards of a Kappa Sigma, and wear the Star and Crescent with honor always. Signed, VaShanw Head |

Dear Xi Epsilon Chapter Alumni,
Hello! My name is Matthew Turek. I am a sophomore at Thiel College and I am undecided in my major. At first I was hesitant to pledge Kappa Sigma, but after a few meetings with the other pledges and the brothers, I knew I made the correct decision. One thing that drew me to Kappa Sigma was the strict no-hazing policy and the friendship and brotherhood of the present brothers. At our first meeting, we had to elect our pledge class officers, I am proud to say that I am the President of the Upsilon class at Thiel. Hopefully becoming a Kappa Sigma brother will help me to become a better person and create friendships with people I wouldn’t think I would have been friends with. I can feel that my decision to pledge Kappa Sigma will positively affect my life. Sincerely, Matthew Turek |

Dear Kappa Sigma Alumni of the Xi-Epsilon chapter, My name is William Mills and I am pledging Kappa Sigma, Xi-Epsilon chapter. My pledge class is Upsilon. I am a junior at Thiel College and I am majoring in History. My hope is to graduate from Thiel College with a degree in History, attending Grad School, and get my masters in education. My goal is to teach History at a secondary level. My reasons for joining Kappa Sigma are really simple. Many of the brothers in this chapter on Thiel College I am already friends with or have associated with many of them in past experiences. Many of them I have know n for the three years that I have been at Thiel College, and they are all great people. Also, I liked the fact that the brothers mentioned the importance of academics. Those were the main determining factors as of why I chose to pledge Kappa Sigma. I’m not really sure what Kappa Sigma is going to be like this semester, let alone this year. Part of me is really excited. I’m looking forward to getting to know the brothers along with my pledge brothers. I’m looking forward to having a good time, alone with a certain amount of seriousness that comes along with my decision. The other part of me doesn’t really know what to expect, but I’m looking forward to that part as well. The certain level of mystery that awaits me during my pledging weeks seems to keep me on my toes. All in all, pledging Kappa Sigma is a decision that I am sure I am going to enjoy to the fullest. Sincerely, William Mills |

Dear Xi Epsilon Alumni, To whom this may concern. My name is Stephen Backmon. I am a sophomore at Thiel College. I am majoring in Art with an emphasis on graphic design. I am a member of the Upsilon class of 2006 at Thiel. I joined because I want a real brotherhood feeling. I have two brothers, but the are very young. I want someone my age that I can really talk to and get to know and someone that can give me advice from that point of view other than my parents. I hope the Kappa Sigma order can give me this experience. The brothers of this campus are real stand up guys and I hope I will grow close to them like my real brothers at home. Carpe Diem! Sincerely, Stephen Backmon |

Dear Alumni of the Xi Epsilon Chapter,
My name is Kareem Preston and I am a member of the Upsilon Pledge class. I am a Business Major at Thiel College and play for the Basketball team. Having always been a team player, I have a great desire to become a brother in Kappa Sigma. I have a strong feeling of brotherhood and acceptance already only being on the KE radar for two weeks, and it has been fantastic, this is what college should be like. Becoming a brother in Kappa Sigma will be one of the turning points in my life. It will be a growing experience, a place to stretch my leadership skills as well as my following ones. I expect to develop friendships that will last me a lifetime, friendships that will help me become a man, a true full person able to lead a rich and fulfilling life.
Sincerely, Kareem Preston |

To: The Kappa Sigma Fraternity Dear Xi-Epsilon Alumni. My name is Jason Thomas and I am a junior at Thiel College. I always wondered deep down, even after receiving my invite to join your fraternity “what was so special about Greek life?” until now. I am writing this letter while preparing for my first pledge test. I know what’s unique about it. After reading and learning the “Star and Crescent,” I’m still in awe. In my opinion, the oath is beyond the comprehension of the mind alone because it also touched my heart and stated the ethical standards I secretly strive for everyday. Something about knowing that each and every member of this fraternity has learned and accepted these words compels me to see you in a whole new light. Respectively, we all have something in common that went unnoticed on my part. I would be lying if I said that for a moment I didn’t think pledging would be worth it. Before tonight I didn’t realize how I could benefit from it, my main concern was my other responsibilities. But, Nicholas Hanzivasilis and David Bradley were my teammates prior to joining Kappa Sigma and I’ve seen their confidence and positive changes, in leadership, determination, and aiming for perfection. Again, I hope to achieve that by becoming one of you. So with disregard to my apprehension, I actually started believing that together we could change the world. And before I knew it all of my homework was done, my stress level was relieved, and I couldn’t sleep because of the idea of becoming a part of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and what we could accomplish together. Regardless of our differences, by accepting the same mission and upholding our promise to our Fraternity will be immortalized, even if it’s for nothing else but changing the color boundaries that separated our ancestors for years and embracing brotherhood. In closing, I realized my limits tonight, preparing to pledge and learned something about myself that I probably couldn’t have learned in the classroom. I found out that not only did I want to pledge I wanted to make a difference and represent “our” Fraternity proudly.
Sincerely, Jason M. Thomas Pledge of the Upsilon Class |

Dear Xi Epsilon Chapter Alumni,
First off, I would like to introduce myself. My name is JJ Strausser. I am currently in my sophomore year of school and pursuing my major, Business Administration. I decided to pledge Kappa Sigma because I am striving to become a better person and a more well rounded gentleman. So far everything is great and I couldn’t have made a better decision. What I’m looking to get out of this whole experience is to become a better individual and hopefully make some life long friendships with my future brothers and help out the community.
Sincerely, JJ Strausser |
